Schematic shows Galaxy A05 with a dual camera, A05s with triple cam and NFC
A week ago we saw CAD-based renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A05s, which showed a triple camera – don’t get too excited, it’s just a 50+2+2MP setup. Now an image (which might be from the manual) shows that its sibling, the Galaxy A05, will have only two cameras (as we’ve seen in spy shots before).
Both phones are expected to have 50MP sensors in the main. As for the second camera on the A05, it’s probably a 2MP helper (most likely a depth sensor, but possibly a macro cam). This was the case with the A04 and A04s from last year too.
Another difference between the 2022 models is that the “s” phone had NFC (in some markets, at least), while the regular A04 did not. Judging by the schematic, this will be the case this year as well.
A Geekbench 6 result revealed that the Galaxy A05 will be powered by the Helio G85 chipset, a solid upgrade over the P35 that was used in the A04. The A05s should use the same G85 chip, in this case replacing the Exynos 850 (we haven’t seen a confirmation in benchmarks for that yet, though). It looks like the base RAM will be boosted to 4GB (up from 3GB). The phones will run full Android 13 with One UI 5.x Core out of the box.
Both models should be dual-SIM phones with a dedicated spot for a microSD card, there’s no word on the built-in storage yet. The Google Play Console confirmed that the display on the Galaxy A05 will remain at 720 x 1,600px resolution (20:9), same as last year (and almost certainly same as the A05s). The displays should be a tenth larger than last year, though, at 6.6”. Both phones are expected to have 5,000mAh batteries with 15w charging like last year.
We haven’t heard anything on when the Samsung Galaxy A05 and A05s will be unveiled (we did hear "late August" at one point, but that clearly didn’t happen).
