Samsung US offers free upgrade for Galaxy Tab S9 series, deep discounts on Galaxy Book3

2023-11-29

A couple of weeks ago we looked at Samsung US deals for the new Galaxy Tab S9 FE tablets and those are still ongoing (as are the deals on the S23 series and the Galaxy Z foldables). Now we will have a closer look at Samsung’s mainline Tab S9 series as well as laptops and even a couple of monitors you can set up at home.

All three S9 tablets have a free storage upgrade, but they have different limits on the enhanced trade-in offer. Let’s look at the top dog first.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra price can be reduced by up to $700 with trade-in and this is on top of the $200 savings from the free storage upgrade to 512GB. Note that you can only get this upgrade by following the links below and choosing the Shop Samsung app instead of the web store.

There’s also the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+, which can be discounted by up to $650 with trade-ins (e.g. a Tab S7+ from 2020 is valued at $500). This one also gets upgraded to 512GB storage for free and like the Ultra, you can pick up a pair of Galaxy Buds2 Pro for just $50 (they are well below their MSRP of $230 these days but never this low unless paired with another product).

Finally, there is the “small” Galaxy Tab S9 (it’s an 11” slate, it’s just that its 12.4” and 14.6” siblings make it look small). Note that this one starts with 128GB storage so the upgrade is to 256GB. However, it’s doubly important for the vanilla tablet as the base model has 8GB of RAM, the upgraded one has 12GB.

If you prefer laptops over tablets or Windows of Android for productivity, here are some Galaxy Book3 offers. Starting with the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra, this is a lightweight 16” laptop with an Intel Core i7 and an Nvidia RTX 4050 with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD. There is a version with an i9 and an RTX 4070 if you feel you need more power.

The Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro 360 is another 16” laptop, though it has a touchscreen (with stylus support) mounted on a 360° hinge, so you can use it as a huge tablet as well. This one is configured with a Core i7 with Iris Xe graphics and 16GB of RAM plus a 1TB SSD.

Finally, there is a traditional laptop dubbed the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Pro. It still has a 16” display, just not a touchscreen. It is powered by a Core i7 with Iris Xe graphics with 16GB of RAM and 1TB storage, just like the Pro 360.

You may want to plug in these laptops in an external monitor at home, the DeX feature on the Galaxy Tab S9 series makes them a good desktop replacement too. So here are a few offers.

First, the 34” ViewFinity S65UA is a solid all-rounder. It has a 100Hz refresh rate with AMD FreeSync, so it’s good for gaming, it has 3,440 x 1,440px resolution (21:9) and HDR10 so it offers a sharp image and there is a USB-C built-in, so you can plug in the laptops and tablets with just a single cable (with 90W charging). There is even a LAN port on board so the plugged in device can automatically get a wired connection to your router. Note that this is a curved monitor (1000R).

For gaming, there is the G85SB OLED monitor, which has 175Hz refresh rate and lightning fast 0.03ms gray-to-gray transition time. This one can reach 400 nits of brightness. Like the monitor above, this one has a curved 34” display (it’s curvier at 1800R) with the same 3,440 x 1,440px resolution, but the QD-OLED display offers perfect blacks and a higher contrast.

If you want to go all out, check out the 49” Odyssey Neo G9 DQHD, which is effectively two QHD monitors side by side (except with no bezel on the side). It has a 240Hz refresh rate and Quantum Matrix panel is rated HDR2000, so it is insanely bright. The Picture-by-Picture feature allows the monitor to show two input sources simultaneously, just like actually having two monitors.
