Samsung S8000 Jet and Samsung I8000 Omnia II unveiled
After loads and loads of rumors and leaks, Samsung finally introduced two new touch-operated handsets. The feature phone Samsung S8000 Jet and the WinMo-running Samsung I8000 Omnia II come to reinforce the company full-touch handsets portfolio.
Samsung I8000 Omnia II
Samsung I8000 Omnia II runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS and sports a large 3.7" AMOLED resistive touchscreen display of WVGA resolution. The successor of the extremely popular Samsung i900 Omnia will come with version 2.0 of Samsung"s proprietary TouchWiz UI preinstalled on top of the WinMo OS.
Samsung I8000 Omnia II has connectivity very duly covered with both HSDPA (up to 7.2 Mbps) and HSUPA (up to 5.76 Mbps) onboard. It will also sport Wi-Fi, GPS plus the usual suspects USB and Bluetooth. Some of the other highlight features include 8/16GB of built-in memory, microSD card slot and a 5 megapixel camera with D1 (720 x 480 pixels) video recording.
As of now there is no official information about the availability or the pricing of the Samsung I8000 Omnia II. Earlier rumors had it though, that it will become available in October this year.

Samsung S8000 Jet
The multimedia-oriented Samsung S8000 Jet sports a 3.1-inch AMOLED touch display with WVGA resolution and 16 million colors.
Some of the other highlight features of Samsung S8000 Jet include a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, built-in GPS, 3G support and Wi-Fi as well as DivX and XviD video support. FM radio with RDS and 2GB internal memory expandable via microSD slot are also onboard the Samsung S8000 Jet. A powerful 800 MHz CPU will make sure that the performance doesn"t disappoint.
The audiophiles will appreciate the fact that Samsung S8000 Jet comes complete with a 3.5mm audio jack and will features DNSe & SRS Sound Effect technology which should provide for great sound quality.

TouchWiz 2.0
The TouchWiz 2.0 available on both Samsung S8000 Jet and Samsung I8000 Omnia II comes with some exclusive features such as Motion UI and Media Gate 3D. The 3D Media gate is an intuitive six-sided cube UI that you flick on screen for quick and easy access to six key multimedia features, such as Photo album, Music player, Video player, FM Radio, Games and internet.
The Samsung Motion gate a.k.a. Motion UI featured on the Samsung S8000 Jet and Samsung I8000 Omnia II is Samsung"s own motion recognition engine which brings you access to your multimedia favorites as well as speed dialing just by tapping, tilting or flipping the handset.
Samsung have also enabled the S8000 Jet with the Smart unlock feature, previously known as Gesture lock. It was first featured on Samsung S5600 and Samsung S5230. Smart unlock allows users to simultaneously unlock the phone and open a menu item or an application, or even dial a contact, just by drawing an alphabet letter on the unlock screen.
Each alphabet letters from A to Z can be set as a gesture by the user to perform the various actions in question. For instance, you can use it to start apps like the music player, messaging menu, the web browser, Java apps or the dialing keypad.

To complement the available GPS receiver, the Samsung S8000 Jet comes with some new on-board 3D map navigation software Samsung Mobile Navigator developed by Samsung themselves. It makes use of the electronic compass that"s on board and allows for vehicle and pedestrian navigation.
With the Samsung S8000 Jet Samsung also introduces their new WebKit-based Dolfin web browser, which is an in-house developed application.
Unfortunately Samsung haven"t yet announced the release date and the pricing information about the Samsung S8000 Jet.
