Samsung offers a look inside the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra
Have you ever watched a teardown video of a modern smartphone and wondered “what does that thingy do?” Well, the curious are in luck – Samsung has posted exploded views of the Galaxy Z Fold6, Z Flip6 and Galaxy Watch Ultra with explanations of what each component does.
Let’s start with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6. These modern devices are so tightly packed that we have to look at both sides of each board and panel to see everything, there is no space left blank. So, here are all the components seen from the front and back. You can read Samsung’s detailed post for more on each individual component.
A few details that caught our eye include the new hinge (3) – it’s the key to making the Z Fold6 1.3mm thinner when folded. The use of reinforced materials kept the smaller hinge as tough as the old one. The so-called wing plate (2) both protects the display from damage and helps it fold and unfold smoothly.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is the first in the family to feature a vapor chamber (4). Also, the main display (1) uses Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) that’s 60% thicker than on the previous model and new coating materials and techniques have helped reduce reflectivity. Samsung also managed to increase the capacity of both the main battery (5) and the sub-battery. For more, check out Samsung’s explanation of what each component does and how it was improved.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra boasts a next-generation BioActive Sensor (1) with 13 LEDs (9 more than the previous sensor). The Printed Board Assembly (4) features an impressive 3nm chipset – the Exynos W1000 is 3x faster and 30% more energy efficient than previous chips in the W series. The display (5) is equally impressive, being able to push out 3,000 nits of brightness. You can read more about the Watch Ultra here.
