Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge announcement date possibly outed

At its Unpacked event in January, where it unveiled the rest of the Galaxy S25 family, Samsung teased the Galaxy S25 Edge, and even let us go eyes-on with it. But nothing more than that.

In case you"ve been wondering when to expect it to be fully unveiled, a new report from Korea today gives us an actual date: April 16.

Since time zones exist, do note that it could actually happen on April 15 in some places. Either way, Samsung seems to have settled on mid-April to fully launch the thinnest member of its flagship line. The launch event will allegedly be online-only.

The report reiterates the fact that the reason this phone exists is Samsung wanting to get in on the super-thin handset action way ahead of Apple, which has long been rumored to unveil its own very slim iPhone 17 Air in September. That model is still rumored to be thinner than the S25 Edge"s 6.4mm, but it will have just one rear camera as opposed to the Edge"s two.

The Galaxy S25 Edge will become available in May in light blue, black, and silver. The initial production run is said to be around 40,000 units, which is tiny and makes us wonder if Samsung really believes this model will be successful. To put the number into perspective, it"s less than 1% of the company"s monthly smartphone production.

The S25 Edge is rumored to sport a 200 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultrawide. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Price-wise it"s expected to slot in between the Galaxy S25 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
