Samsung Galaxy S to launch on T-Mobile USA as Vibrant, for $200

2021-05-07

The rumors were true - a Galaxy S is launching on T-Mobile USA on July 21st. The Samsung Vibrant, "a Galaxy S phone", is equivalent to the I9000 Galaxy S in specs though it comes preloaded with some goodies.

The Samsung Vibrant specs should be familiar if you"ve looked at the I9000 Galaxy S. The star of the show is a 4" WVGA SuperAMOLED touchscreen, showing off Android 2.1. The whole thing is running on a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird CPU making up for a very attractive combo.

The Samsung Vibrant retains the 5MP camera with 720p video capture from the Galaxy S and the speedy 3G connectivity - the supports supports HSPA+. The Galaxy S comes with either 8 or 16GB of built-in storage, but it"s not clear if the Vibrant will offer both of those options.

It will come with a 2GB microSD card preinstalled though - on it you"ll find James Cameron"s Avatar. Other goodies in the Samsung Vibrant box are up to a month of free in-flight Internet thanks to Gogo Inflight Internet, The Sims 3, Amazon Kindle for Android, Slacker Radio, MobiTV and Samsung Media Hub.

The Samsung Vibrant will be available starting July 21, for 199 US dollars, or you can pre-order it on July 1 from RadioShack if you buy a 50 dollar gift card.

By the way, other US carriers are getting the Galaxy S too – the Samsung Captivate was announced for AT&T a few days ago, Verizon is getting it as Samsung Fascinate, the US Cellular version seems to be called just Galaxy S. Sprint is also getting one, the Samsung Epic 4G, but this one packs a hardware QWERTY. That"s some serious family they"ve got there already.
