Samsung announces One UI 7 Beta, gives us a glimpse of upcoming features
Samsung's One UI 7 will arrive much later than anticipated, as the company promises to bring its latest UI in early 2025. But before the final release, the company is launching its beta program today and highlighting some new features.
Of course, Samsung begins by highlighting the new AI capabilities, including writing assist tools that help you write and format text more easily. The AI assistant can also summarize text, check spelling and grammar, and format notes into comprehensive bullet points.
One of the AI functionalities includes call transcripts, similar to Google Pixel's call transcribe feature.
Another big change is the design. Samsung went for a more simplified look and functionality. The new Now Bar is a product of that. It houses relevant activities from apps like Interpreter, Music, Recording, Stopwatch, etc., to de-clutter your lock screen appearance. This way, you get instant access to the most important notifications and actions on the home screen, so you don't have to unlock your phone as much.
The camera UI gets some love too. Camera buttons, controls and modes are reorganized for easier access. The viewfinder has been revamped as well, and it should provide a better preview of the stills and videos you shoot.
The One UI 7 Beta program kicks off on December 5, 2024, and starts with the Galaxy S24 series in Germany, India, Korea, Poland, the UK and the US. As usual, users can apply to join the beta program through the Samsung Members app.
