Rumored HTC Mondrian to have a 1.3GHz processor, run WP7?
Not so long ago, mobile phone CPUs reached the 1GHz milestone, but HTC is already looking ahead. Info on a new device called the HTC Mondrian showed up, presumably powered by 1.3GHz Snapdragon processor.
Over at the XDA-Developers forums, people have been digging through files from a leaked ROM for a Windows Phone 7 device, called the HTC Mondrian. Inside are references to some pretty amazing stuff.
For one, the CPU listed is QSD8650A or B - a Snapdragon clocked at 1.3GHz and with support for both GSM and CDMA 3G - HSDPA and EV-DO. Continuing through the potential specs for the HTC Mondrian, there"s screen is 4.3" with WVGA resolution - the same as the one on the HTC HD2 and the HTC EVO 4G.
There"s also a mention of a Qualcomm Wi-Fi adapter, an FM radio and a digital compass.
Another interesting thing that came out of the ROM is the picture on the left. It"s obviously a render and not a photo, and probably a generic image for a Windows Phone 7 device, rather than the HTC Mondrian. Either way, the final design probably won"t be too different - big touchscreen and the keys mandated by WinPho 7.
The ROM is for a Cingular USA device, but with GSM/CDMA support, we"ll probably be seeing the same device on GSM carriers too. Unlike the HTC Wildfire, which was announced today, the info on the HTC Mondrian is not official, so take it with a pinch of salt.
