Rumor: Samsung is bringing back the rotating bezel for the Galaxy Watch6 Pro

2023-03-13

The rotating bezel was a unique selling point for Samsung watches, but the company chose to skip it with the Galaxy Watch5 series. According to Korean leakster Super Roader, the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Pro will bring back the rotating bezel, giving an upgrade path to people who held onto their Classics.

The Pro alone will offer this feature, the vanilla Watch6 will reportedly stick to a digital bezel. And there’s some good news for those who thought that the Galaxy Watch5 Pro was too big (it only came in a 45.4mm size), the Watch6 Pro will be available in two sizes.

What those sizes might be is unclear, however. The Galaxy Watch4 Classic came in 46mm and 42mm sizes, the former had a 1.4” display (same size as the Watch5 Pro), the latter a 1.2” display. The two versions of the Watch6 Pro should be in the same ballpark.

There should be other upgrades, e.g. Safety Korea recently photographed the battery for the small 40mm Galaxy Watch6 (as spotted by GalaxyClub) and it had 300mAh capacity, a small 5% bump from the 284mAh battery of the 40mm Watch5. The Watch5 Pro had the biggest battery of any Samsung watch yet, 590mAh, and maybe the new Pro will get a bump too.

The new Samsung Galaxy Watch generation will most likely be unveiled in August alongside the next generation Samsung foldables. Luckily for the impatient people in the audience, Samsung tech tends to leak ahead of the official unveiling, so expect to hear more about the new Pro soon.
