Report: iPhone 16 Pro and Pixel 9 series to get new M14 OLED from Samsung
Upcoming flagships from Apple and Google will reportedly have Samsung's newest M14 OLED panel, which is both brighter and longer-lasting than the current best panel in the Galaxy S24 Ultra.
A report by Korean outlet ETNews details plans for Samsung Display to supply the M14 OLED panel to the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, as well as Google's Pixel 9 series, which are coming in the second half of the year.
The M14 name suggests the use higher-performance materials in the OLED panel, presumably totaling 14. The M14 OLED is set to be brighter and has a longer lifespan than current OLED offerings by Samsung Display.
According to insiders, cited by the Korean report, the iPhone 16 Pro (6.3-inch) and 16 Pro Max (6.9-inch) will have the new display, while the vanilla models (6.1-inch 16 and 6.7-inch 16 Plus) will have the same 'M12' panels the current 15 generation uses.
Reportedly the entirety of the Google Pixel 9 series will use the newer M14 panel - the smaller Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, and the larger Pixel 9 Pro XL.
