Redmi Watch 5 and Buds 6 Pro announced
The Redmi K80 series is official and the Xiaomi sub-brand also announced a new smartwatch and TWS buds alongside its latest and greatest smartphones.
Redmi Watch 5
Redmi Watch 5 is the logical successor to last year’s Redmi Watch 4 and it brings a larger 2.07-inch AMOLED screen which now peaks at 1,500 nits. Xiaomi also trimmed the bezels and kept the 60Hz refresh rate.
Watch 5 features an aluminum frame and a metal dial on the right-hand side which allows you to navigate the UI. It’s one of the first wearables to launch with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 out of the box.
Xiaomi is also offering an eSIM version, which allows you to make calls and send out messages on supported platforms.
Xiaomi claims its new heart-rate tracking sensor offers 97.1% accuracy and you also get the standard blood oxygen, sleep and stress tracking. The watch also features a built-in GNSS positioning sensor and tracks your usual sports and activities.
550mAh battery inside the Watch 5 is now rated at up to 24 days of normal usage and up to 12 days with Always-On Display mode.
Redmi Watch 5 comes in black and silver colors and is priced at CNY 599 ($82). The eSIM version comes in Titanium silver and is priced at CNY 799 ($110).
Redmi Buds 6 Pro
Redmi Buds 6 Pro come with 11 mm titanium-coated dynamic drivers which are paired with 6.7mm piezoelectric ceramic drivers.
Xiaomi also updated the active noise cancelation (ANC) which can drown out up to 55dB of noise. Buds 6 Pro pair over Bluetooth 5.3 and support LHDC 5.0 and LC3 audio codecs. Battery life from the buds and their case is rated at up to 36 hours.
Redmi Buds 6 Pro and Buds 6 Pro Gaming Edition
Xiaomi is also offering a Gaming Edition Buds 6 Pro, which features a 20ms latency and supports the LHDC Lossless audio codec via its specialized USB-C adapter.
Redmi Buds 6 Pro come in Jade Green, White and Black colors. Pricing is set at CNY 399 ($55). Buds 6 Pro Gaming Edition are priced at CNY 499 ($68).
