Redmi K40S is a minor refresh of a familiar phone
Xiaomi's Redmi brand announced a third phone alongside the K50 Pro and K50 - the Redmi K40S, a phone that doesn't stray very far fromthe K40.
The Redmi K40S ships with a Snapdragon 870 chip with either 6GB, 8GB, or 12GB of RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It has a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a 1080x2400px resolution. The touch sampling rate can reach up to 360Hz when gaming. So far, the K40S is pretty much identical to the K40.
Camera-wise there's a 48MP f/1.8 camera with a 1/2.0-inch Sony IMX582 sensor and an optically-stabilized lens. There's also an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 2MP macro unit (the K40 had a 5MP macro). Like its predecessor, the K40S has a 20MP selfie camera.
The battery has the same 4,500mAh capacity as the Redmi K40, but the K40S has faster 67W charging (over the 33W of the older phone).
You can configure the Redmi K40S in four different colors and in four configurations - 6/128GB, 8/128GB, 8/256GB, and 12/256GB. Prices are CNY 1,799, CNY 1,999, CNY 2,199, and CNY 2,399, respectively.
The Redmi K40S will go on its first flash sale in China today.
