Realme GT 6T first impressions

Realme unveiled the Realme GT 6T today at an event in New Delhi, India, marking the GT lineup's comeback to international markets and India in particular after a hiatus of over two years. The 6T is the first 'T' model in the GT series' non-Neo lineup, where 'T' stands for "Top Performer." The smartphone comes in Fluid Silver and Razor Green colors. We spent some time with the silver model, and here are our first impressions of the phone.

The Realme GT 6T comes in a black-colored retail box with a protective case, a SIM ejector tool, a charging cable, and a 120W GaN charger.

On the front, we have a 6.78" 120Hz 8T LTPO curved AMOLED display with a 2,780x1,264-pixel resolution. It's protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and has 6,000 nits peak brightness and Dolby Vision support.

The display has a centered punch-hole for the 32MP selfie camera (Sony IMX615) and a fingerprint scanner underneath for biometric authentication. The fingerprint reader is fast and accurate, but placing it slightly higher would've made it easier to reach.

Turn the phone around, and you have a back cover with a Nano Mirror Design. It has a dual finish - one utilizes nano-level mirror coating tech, while another, covering the major part of the panel, is made with the Misty AG Process.

During the short time we spent with the phone, the mirror portion got smudged with fingerprints, and the area around the three circles housing the flash and cameras is likely to accumulate dust.

Speaking of, the dual camera setup comprises 50MP primary and 8MP ultrawide units. The primary camera uses the Sony LYT-600 sensor with OIS, while the ultrawide camera uses the Sony IMX355 sensor. The latter has an FOV of 112°.

Under the hood, the Realme GT 6T has the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, making it India's first smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip. It comes with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage onboard and boots Android 14-based Realme UI 5.0. Realme has promised three years of Android version upgrades and four years of security updates, but it didn't commit anything regarding the rollout frequency of the latter and said the security updates will be released "as needed."

Keeping the entire package up and running is a 5,500 mAh battery with 120W charging support. The bundled 120W GaN charger is advertised to fill the battery up to 50% in 10 minutes, which we'll be sure to test during our review process.

The rest of the Realme GT 6T's highlights include an IP65 rating, stereo speakers, USB-C, IR blaster, and NFC. It also comes with a dedicated privacy chip that stores data about biometric fingerprints, facial information, screen locks, privacy passwords, app locks, and file encryption.

We'll have more to talk about the Realme GT 6T in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
