Our vivo V40 Pro battery life test is ready
We have a vivo V40 Pro at the office and the review is almost ready. Not quite, though, but we can already share how the large 5,500mAh battery did in our tests. The phone is quite slender at 7.6mm, which makes that capacity particularly impressive for a Li-Ion power cell. According to vivoâs research, the V40 Pro (along with the V40) is the thinnest phone with a 5,500mAh battery.
The old vivo V30 Pro had a smaller 5,000mAh battery, despite having the same screen size (6.78â). It used a lower class of chipset too, Dimensity 8200 instead of the flagship Dimensity 9200+ inside the V40 Pro. Overall battery life between the two is comparable, however, the new model lasted longer in the calls test (nearly 10 hours more) and gaming (3 hours more), though it fell short in the web and video tests (by 3 and 5 hours, respectively).
The Xiaomi 14T Pro has a smaller 5,000mAh battery and a 6.67â display and uses the newer Dimensity 9300+ chipset. The overall battery life for the Xiaomi is lower, with the vivo coming out ahead in the gaming, calling and browsing tests, but it didnât last as long playing video.
A Realme GT 6 with a 5,500mAh battery, 6.78â display and a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset gains the upper hand with around an hour more Active use score. It posted even longer call times, but gaming ran down the battery faster. Really, it was the impressive video time (the phone lasts over 19 hours) that pushed the overall score up.
The vivo V40 Pro comes bundled with an 80W charger and a USB-C cable. We will be testing the charge speed â that (and more) will be part of the full review, which is coming soon.
