Orange UK bringing LG GD910 wristwatch phone to Bond Street
Much like its peer network in France, Orange UK have scored the exclusive deal to offer the LG G910 watchphone in the UK. There's a difference however - the much lower price tag for Bond and his colleagues.
If you live in the UK and you've always fancied a wristwatch phone gizmo that's like something coming out of a Bond movie, you'll have your chance at a starting price of 500 pounds (580 euro), which is quite cheaper than the asking price of 900 euro under the Eiffel tower.
We already reviewed the LG GD910 so we'll just run through the specs here - a 1.43" touchscreen display, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, Bluetooth, VGA videocall camera, speech recognition and text-to-speech capabilities and IPX4 certification for resistance to water jets.
The Orange UK press release is written in the usual ad-talk, but is commendable for its subtleness. It does mention that the LG GD910 is handmade, targeted at the image conscious, but stresses the LG GD910 will fit "every mood or crime-fighting outfit" with its eight watch faces.
Uhmm, "crime-fighting outfit"? We did mention they were subtle, didn't we? And yes, the first Orange store to sell the GD910 is actually located at Bond Street Station. The press release goes on to say, that the built-in speaker will let you "listen to the Essential James Bond theme album when youre imprisoned in a fake volcano or battling with Jaws." Yeah right, nothing beats some nice music score while disarming a ticking bomb.
The LG GD910 will start selling on 27 August at 9 a.m. at the aforementioned Bond Street Station Orange shop in Central London. The wristwatch phone will be available at the price of 500 pounds (580 euro) for a limited time only. The shop will work on a "first come, first served basis" so you better get your camping gear and stake out the store if you want to join the small, but exclusive club of LG GD910 owners at a bargain price. And another thing - only one per customer, sorry! You can't have a second one for the Bond girl.
