Oppo unveils Find X5 Lite with Dimensity 900 chip, Enco X2 TWS earphones with ANC

2022-02-24

Today’s event focused on the Oppo Find X5 and Find X5 Pro, but standing right behind them was the Oppo Find X5 Lite. Not a completely new model, in truth it is essentially a the same as the Reno7 5G. This means that the hardware echoes that of the X5 series, but even the design makes it clear that this model comes from a different line.

The Lite model has basically the same dimensions as the X5, but the screen is smaller at 6.43” (vs. 6.55”). To its credit, it has 1,080 x 2,400 px resolution and HDR10+ support, but the refresh rate is only 90 Hz (vs. 120 Hz) and DCI-P3 coverage only goes up to 76% (vs. 100%). The touch sampling rate is up to 180 Hz for up to two fingers. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, but there is no official IP rating for dust or water resistance.

The phone is powered by the Dimensity 900, a mid-range 6 nm chipset. It is paired with 8 GB of RAM (LPDDR4X at 2,133 Hz) and 256 GB of UFS 2.2 (2 lanes HS-Gear3) storage. Unlike its siblings, this model does have a microSD slot for easy expansion. And there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack as well.

Going back to the RAM for a moment, the phone runs ColorOS 12.1 (based on Android 12), which has a RAM Expansion feature that can add 5 GB of virtual RAM.

Gone is the dual 50 MP camera, the Find X5 Lite gets a 64 MP main camera instead, plus an 8 MP ultra wide (119°) and a 2 MP macro (no telephoto here). The selfie camera has a 32 MP sensor and a lens with 85° FoV (that’s close to what the X5 has, 32 MP, 90°).

Video recording with the main camera tops out at 4K @ 30 fps and with no MariSilicon X chip, there is no 4K Ultra Night mode for video.

The phone’s 4,500 mAh battery is smaller than its siblings, but it’s the same size as the X3 Pro from last year. And with 65W charging, it’s just as fast to top up – a full charge takes 31 minutes, but if you’re in a hurry to get back to your game, 5 minutes of charging will be enough for 2 hours of play. There is no wireless charging on this model.

The noise cancellation has been improved to 45 dB (up from 35 dB), making the X2 some of the best at removing ambient noise. For great audio quality, the buds support Bluetooth 5.2 and LHDC 4.0 with bitrates up to 900 Kbps. And a continued collaboration with Dynaudio.
