Oppo Reno8 Pro+ is likely to launch internationally rebranded as Reno8 Pro

2022-06-20

Last month Oppo announced its latest Reno family of mid-range smartphones for the Chinese market - the Reno8, Reno8 Pro, and Reno8 Pro+. In case you"re wondering why we haven"t reviewed any of them yet, that"s because they"re meant for the Chinese market. That said, an international launch usually trails with Reno series by a few months, which means these Reno8 models could be arriving in other markets before the end of the year.

When they do, you might be in for some confusion, as it turns out that the Reno8 Pro+ could in fact be sold outside of China as Reno8 Pro, losing the "+" on its journey for some reason. This was revealed through a benchmark listing for the Oppo CPH2357, which is tied to the Reno8 Pro name sans the "+".

Oppo Reno8 Pro+ is likely to launch internationally rebranded as Reno8 Pro

It ran Geekbench with the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC at the helm, which is the chip used by the Reno8 Pro+ in China (the Reno8 Pro has the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 instead). This upcoming international Reno8 Pro was tested with 12GB of RAM and with Android 12 on board. It managed to achieve an 898 single-core score and 3,555 multi-core score, although these shouldn"t be taken too seriously since we"re talking about a prototype.

The Reno8 Pro+ was previously rumored not to reach India, but now it turns out that may just mean that it won"t launch there with that name - it could very well land being called Reno8 Pro instead.

The Reno8 Pro+ for China, which might end up being released internationally as Reno8 Pro, has a 6.7" 120 Hz 1080x2412 AMOLED touchscreen, a triple rear camera system (50 MP main, 8 MP ultrawide, 2 MP macro), a 32 MP selfie camera with autofocus, and a 4,500 mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.
