2022-10-03

Oppo R15 and R15 Dream Mirror Edition are now official. Just as expected, the phones pack notched tall screens, glass bodies, and dual-camera setups.

Both R15 and R15 DME have notched 6.28" OLED screens of 1,080 x 2,280 px resolution, which means no Plus version at least for now. They also share the same design - glass back with a polished metal frame.

Both Oppo R15 and R15 DME come with the latest ColorOS 5.0 based on Android 8.1. It has a new "AI" assistant that learns your usage patterns, and fast 0.8s Face Unlock.

Oppo R15

The Oppo R15 runs on the new Helio P60 chipset with an octa-core CPU (4x A73@2.0GHz and 4x A53@2.0GHz), Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, and 6GB of RAM. It has 128GB storage and a 3,450 mAh battery with VOOC charging support.

There is a dual-camera on the back of the R15 - the main shooter is a 16MP Sony IMX519 sensor (1/2.6", 1.22um) with f/1.7 lens, while the secondary one is a 5MP shooter behind f/2.2 lens. Oppo says this new setup can automatically recognize up to 120 scenes with Sony"s AI and e add professional portrait lightning effects with Portrait mode.

Oppo has always been keen on providing a high-end selfie experience and the R15 continues this tradition by using a 20MP f/2.0 selfie shooter at the front. Simulated bokeh effect is available, as usual.

The R15 will come with support for Bluetooth 4.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi. The phone is still stuck on microUSB, though.

The R15 will be available in Hot Red, Snow White, and Star Purple colors.

Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition

The second R15 model packs the same notched OLED screen, but runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset with octa-core Kryo processor and Adreno 512 GPU. It comes with 6 gigs of RAM, 128GB storage, and a slightly smaller 3,400 mAh battery with VOOC charging.

The camera on the back has the same 16MP Sony IMX519 sensor as a main shooter, but it"s accompanied by a 20MP f/1.7 helper and we can only assume it"s the same one from the R11s and OnePlus 5T. All fancy AI automatics and portrait effects are present, but there is also a new 8MP face portrait mode exclusive to the R15 DME.

The connectivity suit is the same as on the R15, save for the support for the newer Bluetooth 5.0.

The R15 Dream Mirror Edition will be available in Dream Red and Ceramic Black.
