Oppo launches a sub-brand called Realme, arrives first in India

Huawei introduced Honor as a separate brand that is online-oriented and now Oppo is doing the same. The company is already a key player in the offline market in India, but in order to boost its online presence and sales, it is introducing the brand realme. The first phone from it will appear exclusively on Amazon India and is called realme 1. It's not an entirely new device, though - just a rebranded Oppo A3.

The company takes a dab at Xiaomi and lists the Redmi 5A with a “Generic Design” slogan and asking the question “Do all affordable phones look the same?”. On the other side we see the realme 1 with its unusual design and Diamond Black color.

The poster might be saying “unique”, but we've seen a similar design as far back as the HTC Touch Diamond and, more recently, the Oppo R1x.

Oppo A3/realme 1

The phone will come with a tall notched screen and Helio P60 chipset. Although Amazon India does not reveal a price yet, the realme 1 should cost around INR23,000 or $350/€290. The Oppo A3 comes in four colors and the realme 1 should follow suit - Black, Silver, Pink, and Red.
