The Oppo A2x was teased last week, but the company finally unveiled the smartphone over the weekend. It is an affordable handset with a Dimensity 6020 chipset and only one camera on the back, and a price starting from (the equivalent of) $150.

The screen is a 6.56” LCD, which is a panel Oppo has been using for its A series for the past three years. The screen has HD+ resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 720 nits.

There is a waterdrop notch at the top for a 5 MP selfie camera. The lone snapper on the back is 13 MP with f/2.2 aperture and LED flash below.

The 7nm chipset has 6 GB or 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM, paired to 128 GB or 256 GB storage, respectively. The Oppo A2x has a microSD slot on the left side; the right is for the power key, doubling as a fingerprint scanner.

The A2x comes with a 5,000 mAh battery, but there is no word on charging speeds, suggesting a lowly rate.

The phone takes two nano SIM cards and runs Android 13 with ColorOS 13.1 on top, while other features worth noting are the 3.5 mm audio jack, and IP54 water and dust-resistant body.

Oppo is offering the A2x in three colors – Black, Yellow, and Purple, with the latter two having a neat texture on their backs. The price is CNY1,099 ($150/€142) for the 6/128 GB version and CNY1,399 ($190/€180) for the 8/256 GB option. The phone is already up for sale in China, but we do not expect Oppo to sell it internationally.
