One UI 7 Now Bar gains Google Maps support

Samsung’s Now Bar is one of the big new additions in One UI 7 and it now supports Google Maps integration. Samsung phones running One UI 7 and the latest version of Google Maps will now get updates on navigation, public transit directions and other applicable transport info directly on the lock screen.

Now Bar is a pill-shaped software cutout that’s similar in function to Apple’s Dynamic Island. Google has implemented a similar feature called Live Updates in Android 16 which means that it will be making its way to more devices in the coming years. Samsung"s Now Bar activities also work in Always-on Display (AoD) mode which is another neat trick.
