The GeForce RTX 50-series was revealed at CES 2025 earlier this month. The RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 feature fifth-gen Tensor cores with FP4 support, which lowers VRAM requirements for generative AI models and enhances performance twofold.

Nvidia equipped the RTX 5090 with 32 GB GDDR7 memory with 1.792 GB/sec bandwidth, or about a 75% increase over the RTX 4090. The 5080 has 16 GB GDDR7 RAM and bandwidth of 960 GB/s.

Nvidia set an initial price of RTX 5080 at $1,200, which is still less expensive than the $2,000 RTX 5090. Meanwhile, some scalpers are listing the graphics card for over $5,000 on eBay and Facebook Marketplace, leaving us to wonder who would be so eager to purchase the latest GPU at such an exorbitant price.
