Nokia granted injunction against HTC One in Netherlands
HTC is facing further issues in trying to ship its newest flagship smartphone, the HTC One, to customers. After some supply issues, the company is now locked in a legal battle with Nokia over the use of Nokia's proprietary microphone technology.
It seems HTC is using a specific type of microphone in the HTC One, developed by STMicroelectronics and Nokia exclusively for use in Nokia devices, something which HTC allegedly had no rights to use in their device.
Nokia has now been granted an injunction by the Dutch court over the use of the patented technology, which will prevent HTC from shipping the One in Netherlands unless they acquire rights for the technology or stop using it altogether in their phone.
The injunction is currently only applicable in Netherlands so sales in other countries should remain unaffected, for now.
Update: The ban has since been lifted.
