MWC 2025 Awards: Google Pixel 9 Pro wins Best Smartphone, Xiaomi 15 Ultra is Best in Show

MWC 2025 ends today, and the Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) announced its yearly winners. 33 prizes across 7 categories were awarded, and four of them were in the Device section:

  • Best Smartphone: Google Pixel 9 Pro
  • Breakthrough Device Innovation: Google Gemini
  • Best Connected Consumer Device: Tecno Mega Mini Gaming G1
  • Best in Show: Xiaomi 15 Ultra

The Pixel 9 Pro was selected for its "outstanding performance, innovation and leadership" on the market. It won against devices like iPhone 16 Pro, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Magic V3, and vivo X200 Pro in the smartphones category, launched between January 2024 and December 2024.

The Breakthrough Innovation is for core hardware and software within the devices themselves. This category is for processors, cameras, screens, and other tech, and Gemini won the jury with its generative AI for the end consumer. Other nominated tech were Galaxy AI, Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and the tri-fold hinge on the Huawei Mate XT.

The best-connected consumer device category is the most diverse and is open for mobile products, gadgets, services, solutions, and applications. The winner Mega Mini Gaming G1 is the world's smallest water-cooled gaming mini PC, which comes with an Intel Core i9-13900H processor and GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. It costs $1,699 and has been on the market for several months.

Best in Show is the category for products and devices that were announced at the Mobile World Congress. We saw plenty of devices at the Gran Via in Barcelona, but the Xiaomi 15 Ultra was undoubtedly the most intriguing product for the end consumer.
