Motorola unveils flagship Edge Plus (2023) in the US with competitive $800 price
Motorola finally has a flagship in the US - the Moto Edge+ packs a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and a 165Hz display and it seriously undercuts the likes of the Pixel 7 Pro, Galaxy S23 Ultra, and iPhone 14 Pro Max when it comes to price.
The Motorola Edge+ (2023) is seemingly the global Moto Edge 40 Pro with a different name, though Moto brags about the Edge+" massive 5,100mAh battery - a significant improvement over the 4,600mAh of the Edge 40 Pro. However the dimensions of the two phones are identical so this could be a mistake. If true, this gives the Edge+ (2023) the largest battery of any Motorola flagship.
Let"s talk screen - the Moto Edge+ (2023) has a 6.67-inch 1080x2400px AMOLED with an adaptable 165Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support.
Also on the front is a 60MP selfie shooter with 4K video support.
At the back sits a legit flagship camera setup. The 50MP f/1.8 primary camera comes with a 1/1.55-inch sensor and OIS. Next to it is a 2x 12MP f/1.6 portrait camera with a 1/2.93-inch sensor. The final camera is a 50MP f/2.2 1/2.76-inch autofocusing ultrawide with macro capabilities.
The phone supports 68W wired charging (with the charger in the box), and 15W wireless charging with 5W wireless power share. In contrast, the Moto Edge 40 Pro supports 125W wired charging, which could explain the increased battery capacity.
Powering the Moto Edge+ (2023) is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with 8GB of RAM. The phone comes with either 256GB or 512GB of storage.
Motorola promises three years of OS updates and four years of security updates.
The Moto Edge+ (2023) is also built to a high standard. There"s Gorilla Glass Victus on both sides with an aluminum frame in between. The phone is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance.
Motorola will sell the Moto Edge+ (2023) unlocked through Amazon, Best Buy, and Motorola.com from May 25. It"s also available through Boost Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, and Consumer Cellular, but not from popular US carriers. It starts from $800.
The phone is coming to Canada through Motorola"s website on May 19, priced CAD $1,300.
