Motorola Moto G Power (2022) announced with 50MP camera and Helio G37
This year's Motorola Moto G Power was released back in January so the 2022 version of the handset comes a bit early. Or not - even though it's announced today, Motorola clarifies that the device won't start shipping until early 2022 in the US, while Canada will get it "in the coming months". The new version comes with a couple of improvements and a new SoC.
The new Moto G Power (2022) is built around a slightly smaller 6.5-inch IPS LCD panel with the same 720 x 1600px resolution but the refresh has been bumped up to 90Hz. The Snapdragon 662 has been swapped for MediaTek's Helio G37.
The base storage and RAM are now higher - 4GB/64GB as opposed to 3GB/32GB on the older version. Moreover, the 2022 model now offers 128GB storage options, while keeping the microSD card expansion.
The 2MP camera macro shooter and depth sensor are carried over, but the main camera has been upgraded to a 50MP f/1.8 unit. The same 8MP, 1.12µm, f/2.0 selfie camera sits on the front.
The hardware is powered by a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 10W charging with the appropriate charger included in the retail box. Sadly, the handset comes with Android 11 pre-installed.
The Motorola Moto G Power (2022) is going to be available in a solitary Dark Grove color in the coming months in Canada at a price that's yet to be confirmed.
In the US, the phone will come in early 2022 and will be offered by Republic Wireless and Metro by T-Mobile initially, while Verizon, Boost Mobile, Xfinity Mobile, AT&T, Cricket, US cellular, and Google Fi will join later on. It will also be available unlocked from Best Buy, Amazon.com, and Motorola US for $199/$249.
