Motorola Edge 40 price leaks

A couple of days ago a detailed leak gave us a peak at what Motorola has cooking for the Edge 40 series. The Pro model will be a global variant of China’s X40, the vanilla Motorola Edge 40 will be a brand new model.

The vanilla phone is expected to feature a new Dimensity 8020 chipset, making it a mid-ranger (compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 based Edge 40 Pro). It will come equipped with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128/256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

The Moto Edge 40 will have a curved AMOLED display, a slightly smaller 6.55” panel compared to the Pro (6.67”). It will have a high refresh rate of 144Hz and will be an 8-bit panel (vs. 165Hz, 10-bit on the Pro).

The camera setup is expected to feature a 50MP main module (with OIS), plus a 13MP ultra wide camera (vs. 50+50+12MP on the Pro, which includes a 2x zoom lens). The front-facing camera will have a lower resolution sensor at 32MP.

Finally, the battery will be medium-sized at 4,400mAh and will support both wired (68W) and wireless (15W) charging (for comparison, the Pro will have a 4,600mAh battery with 125/15W charging). Renders published by TheTechOutlook and OnLeaks show two of the four launch colors: Eclipse Black, Nebula Green, Lunar Blue and Viva Magenta.

These two have a vegan leather back, the other two colorways should be a matte acrylic. The frame will be made out of aluminum, the type of glass on the front is unknown at the moment. Both Edge 40 models will have IP68 dust and water resistance.
