MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Version rollout will complete on August 27 for the first batch of devices
Xiaomi is currently busy rolling out the so called MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Version to the first batch of supported devices in China. This rollout commenced on August 13 and should complete on August 27, when it will have reached all of the units out in the wild.
The models included in the first batch of the new release are the Mi 11 Ultra, Mi 11 Pro, Redmi K40 Pro, Mi 10S, Mi 11, Mi 10 Ultra, Redmi K30S, Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, Redmi K40, and Redmi K30 Pro. The Mix 4 debuted running the new version of the software.
For now, Xiaomi hasn't shared any plans to make the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Version available outside of China, but we'll let you know if we hear more about such a prospect. The update fine tunes MIUI 12.5 with things like better read and write speeds for storage (and much improved fragmentation, by up to 60%). This results in the read and write performance decaying by less than 5% after 36 months of use, compared to the usual which is about 50% for other devices.
Memory management has been further optimized, for more smooth operation, and the processor scheduling is revamped too, improving the priority of UI rendering - this apparently results in a 15% reduction in CPU usage and an average 8% power savings.
