March feature drop enables 5G support on Pixel 7, 7 Pro and 6a in India
Google started testing 5G support for Pixel phones in India this January with the QPR beta 2 update. With the beta test successful, the company is now rolling out the March Pixel feature drop, which brings various fixes in addition to 5G support to the subcontinent.
This update enables the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro as well as the Pixel 6a to connect to Jio’s and Airtel’s 5G networks. Once you have it installed, 5G should be enabled automatically (you should see “5G” in the status bar once your phone connects to the network).
5G is now officially supported on Pixel 7, 7 Pro and 6a in India
If you’re curious about other improvements that made it into the March feature drop, check out Google’s post. This includes faster Night Sight on the Pixel 7 duo, Health Connect, fall detection for the Pixel Watch, plus some features were enabled on older models.
One of the more interesting changes lets you have two eSIMs enabled simultaneously on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. This only works on select carriers, however, and we haven’t confirmed that Jio and Airtel are among them.
