Lava Agni 5G goes official with Dimensity 810, 6.78" 90Hz LCD, 5,000 mAh battery
Lava unveiled the Agni 5G â the âfirst Indian 5G smartphoneâ that was âcompletely conceived and made in Indiaâ. Whether itâs actually the first or not, this phone will normally sell for INR 20,000 ($270/â¬235), though it is currently down to INR 18,000 during the pre-booking phase.
Its 5G prowess comes from the Dimensity 810, a 6 nm chipset with two Cortex-A76 cores, six A55 and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. And a 5G modem, of course, in anticipation of Indiaâs 5G rollout. The chip will be running stock Android 11 with 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB storage and a microSD slot (there are two SIM slots as well).
The Lava Agni 5G is one large phone with a 6.78â IPS LCD with 90 Hz refresh rate. It has a 1,080 x 2,460 px resolution (20.5:9) and is capped by a 2.5D sheet of Gorilla Glass 3. The fingerprint reader is mounted on the side, face unlock is also available via the 16 MP selfie camera (inside a punch hole).
Four cameras adorn the rear, starting with a 64MP main camera with 0.7µm pixels (pre-binning), an f/1.8 aperture and dual LED flash. This camera can record 1080p video. Additionally, there is a 5MP ultrawide-angle cam (115º), plus two 2MP helpers (macro and depth sensor).
The phoneâs other big feature, literally, is the 5,000 mAh battery. It is relatively fast to charge at 30W, even better is that you get a power brick in the retail package (along with a USB-C cable and a protective case).
Additional features include a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the bottom and an FM radio receiver. Local connectivity is handled by Wi-Fi 5 (ac) and Bluetooth 5.1.
The Lava Agni 5G will be available starting on November 18, for now you can reserve a place in the queue for INR 500. The phone will sell through Lava's official online store as well as Amazon. There is only one colorway, Fiery Blue.
PS. âAgniâ translates to âfireâ in several languages in India, matching the fiery âLavaâ name of the brand.
