Huawei introduced the Watch Ultimate, complete with 10ATM water resistance - that’s 100 m depth for deep diving. It is also the biggest, strongest and most durable Huawei wearable to date, and we have it with us for a review.

Our unit arrived with two straps in the box - a blue one which is a new type of hydrogenated nitrile rubber. It is said to be more durable and gather less grime, but we"ll see if it makes any differences compared to classic rubber or fluoroelastomer bands on previous Huawei Watch products. There is also a metallic strap with a butterfly clasp for a more elegant look.

The 1.5” LTPO AMOLED screen supports low refresh rate that should improve the battery life. On top of that, Huawei placed a massive 530mAh cell inside, promising up to 14 days of life on a single charge for regular users and more than a week for heavy users.

Some of the new features of the Watch Ultimate include Expedition Mode and a more detailed Diving Mode. There is also a third button on the top left side, a first for a Huawei Watch, that should bring more functionality for active users.

Huawei introduced the Watch Ultimate in two versions - the €749 Expedition Black and €899 in Voyage Blue. That"s actually lower than the $880-equivalent price tag in China. It is supposed to take on the Apple Watch Ultra and the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 Ultra, and we will do our extensive real-life tests to determine whether it has what it takes. Stay around!
