Huawei Mate 70 series is now up for pre-order, sale begins tomorrow

Huawei introduced the Mate 70 series last week, and today the phones went on pre-order. The company is offering all four models on its store Vmall and third-party retailers – Mate 70, Mate 70 Pro, Mate 70 Pro+, and Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design.

All four phones share an unnamed chipset from which Huawei deliberately chooses not to detail. However, a teardown revealed a Kirin 9020 platform with an 8-core, 12-thread CPU with one 2.5 GHz core, three 2.15 GHz cores, and four 1.6 GHz cores; the GPU runs at 840 MHz.

Huawei Mate 70 has 12 GB RAM and three storage options – 256 GB that costs CNY5,499, 512 GB for CNY5,999, and 1 TB for CNY6,999.

The Huawei Mate 70 Pro has a bigger screen, a better telephoto camera, Face ID technology and a mightier battery with faster charging across the board. These specs cost CNY1,000 more – CNY6,499 for 256 GB, CNY6,699 for 512 GB, and CNY7,999 for 1 TB. Early adopters can pick the 512 GB version with HarmonyOS Next, which sells for the same price.

The Mate 70 Pro+ has a 5,700 mAh battery and 16 GB RAM, while the rest of the specs are the same as the Pro. This small increase means the 512 GB storage option costs CNY8,499, while the 1 TB variant is CNY9,499.

The Mate 70 RS Ultimate Design is a step above all the rest with its dual-layer OLED with 3,500 nits brightness and basalt-tempered Kunlun Glass on top. Users willing to pay extra for the panel and the gaudy design must shed CNY11,999 for the 512 GB variant or CNY12,999 for the 1 TB option.

Huawei will start deliveries of the Mate 70 series tomorrow, December 5. Any willing international users have to rely on gray imports to get their hands on these flagships because we don't expect any of these phones to launch globally.
