HTC Sensation XE takes the lead with 1.5GHz dual-core monster
HTC just announced the Sensation XE - the new monster gathering everything the company has to offer in a single shell. You get a 4.3-inch qHD S-LCD display, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, an 8 megapixel snapper, Beats Audio and the latest Android and Sense software.
The HTC Sensation XE is based on the same Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon chipset as the HTC Sensation, but has its dual-core CPU clocked at the much more impressive 1.5GHz. There's no change to the available ram (768 MB) or the GPU (Adreno 220), though. You also get the same software package - Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense 3.5 UI on top.
The HTC Sensation XE is the first smartphone to carry the Beats Audio logo in the Taiwanese company lineup. It will come with new Beats headset and some of the Beats audio magic under the hood, which should bring a dramatic improvement in the sonic experience.
Camera-wise the Sensation XE can offer 8 megapixel stills and 1080p video recording. There's also a dual LED flash and a front-facing VGA camera on board.
The HTC Sensation XE is pretty well set in terms of connectivity as well - quad-band GSM, dual-band 3G with HSPA support, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0 and FM radio. You also get a 3.5mm audio jack, an MHL-enabled microUSB port and a microSD card slot.
Just have in mind that the Sensation XE isn't the rumored Runnymede. Runnymede is supposed to come with a single-core processor, 4.7" WVGA screen and different design, so HTC has another large-screen'd device in the works that should be unveiled soon. We are hoping to see that one on the HTC event next, scheduled for next week.
HTC Sensation XE is expected in Q4 this year, but we've got no information on its pricing just yet.
