HTC designer drops the ball, accidentally posts video of concept phone “Ocean”
Someone over at HTC accidentally posted a video of a new concept smartphone from HTC called Ocean. It looks like perhaps the video was intended to be private and only accessible internally, however, @evleaks re-uploaded the video on Twitter before the original source was taken down. And like clockwork, the video was taken down shortly after.
The video in question is a sizzle reel showing off a new smartphone that has no physical buttons, but rather uses touch sensors along the edges of the phone for inputting various gestures that translate to functions like changing volume, accessing Googles voice search, or it could even act as a camera shutter key without actually have a button there.
The video calls this technology Sense Touch which makes a whole lot of sense (hah) as the phonemakers Android skin is called HTC Sense. The reel doesnt even acknowledge that the device has two rear facing cameras, which was probably saved for its own separate reel.
9to5Google reached out to Danielle Vermeulen, someone who was directly involved with the reel (as it was hosted on a website with her name on it) to which she replied that the video represented a conceptual piece and does not represent any real product from HTC,.
This kind of technology is yet to be seen on a smartphone (correct me if Im wrong in the comments), we hope HTC does come out with this kind of feature in a future smartphone soon!
