Google Pixel Fold 2 might sport the Tensor G4 chipset and launch in October

Google"s next Pixel Fold smartphone is now rumored to skip the Tensor G3 chipset and go straight for the Tensor G4. The Tensor G4 is expected to power the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro when they launch this October, so if the Fold will feature it too, then it may only see the light of day alongside the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.

The original Pixel Fold was introduced at Google I/O last year, the conference that takes place in May. With that in mind we were expecting to see its successor this May but apparently not - that is, of course, if this rumor pans out.

Performance-wise, Google"s Tensor chipsets have never been record-breaking. Thus the new Fold waiting a few months to get a better chip doesn"t sound like such a bad idea. But wait, there"s more - apparently Google is testing the Pixel Fold 2 with 16GB of RAM, which is more than any Pixel ever had. It"s also got UFS 4.0 storage, which is a step up from the UFS 3.1 storage in the OG.

We"ve already seen leaks regarding the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, but nothing so far about the Pixel Fold - and that in itself might be an indirect confirmation of today"s rumor.
