Garmin Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2
Garmin has added two new smartwatches to its Venu series, dubbed Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2 - Music Edition. These are basically the same watches, with the Music Edition having Wi-Fi connectivity and onboard storage for offline music playback (stores up to 500 songs) through Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon Music, allowing "phone-free listening" of music on your wireless earphones.
The rest of the specs and features remain the same on the Venu Sq 2 and Venu Sq 2 - Music Edition. Both smartwatches sport 1.41" always-on AMOLED color touchscreens of 360x320-pixel resolution, with the lens protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
The bezels of the Venu Sq 2 duo are made of anodized aluminum, while the case is made using fiber-reinforced polymer. The two watches weigh 38g each and come with 20mm silicone straps. These are interchangeable, so you can customize the watch to your liking with your favorite 20mm straps.
Garmin hasn"t revealed the size of the Venu Sq 2 pair"s batteries, but the company says both watches will last up to 11 days on a full charge in Smartwatch Mode, and that number will increase to 12 when the Battery Saver Smartwatch Mode is enabled.
However, you"ll only get up to 26 hours of endurance on both watches in GPS-only GNSS mode and up to 20 hours in All-Systems GNSS mode. And if you decide to listen to music on the Music Edition, that number will come down from 20 hours to seven hours.
Talking about the health and fitness features, both smartwatches come with heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen level monitoring, and sleep tracking. They can also measure your stress levels and have support for women"s menstrual cycle tracking.
There"s also a feature called Body Battery Energy Monitoring that helps you determine the best times for activity and rest during the day, while Fitness Age uses your chronological age, your weekly vigorous activity, resting heart rate, and body fat percentage to estimate if your body is younger or older than you are.
The Venu Sq 2 and Sq 2 - Music Edition come pre-loaded with more than 25 indoor and outdoor sports apps, including walking, running, cycling, pool swimming, HIIT, and tennis. Users also have the option to create their own workouts from more than 1,600 exercises using the Garmin Connect app.
The Venu Sq 2 and Sq 2 - Music Edition have 5ATM water resistance and work with iPhones and Android smartphones. They support contactless payments through Garmin Pay and come with Smart Notifications for text, email, and other app alerts. Android users can even reply to text messages from the watch. Moreover, safety and tracking features on the Venu Sq 2 duo allow the users to send a message with their live location to pre-selected contacts when paired with the smartphone if they need assistance.
The Garmin Venu Sq 2 is priced at $250 whereas the Venu Sq 2 - Music Edition costs $300. The regular model comes in gray/slate, white/cream gold, and cool mint/metallic mint colors, while the Music Edition is offered in black/slate, ivory/peach gold, and French gray/cream gold colors.
