Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches with Snapdragon Wear 4100+ leak, will start at €300
Fossilâs Gen 6 smartwatches with Wear OS are âcoming soonâ, but thatâs as far as the official page goes. But we can look to unofficial sources to see whatâs in store â all models will use the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset.
This is a relatively recent 12 nm chipset that is 85% faster than the Wear 3100, according to official numbers. It also supports 4G LTE (Cat. 4) and GPS, plus it has an improved AON co-processor for extended battery life. It can handle continuous heart rate measurements and an Always On display (with 64K colors, up from just 16 in earlier iterations of AON).
The Fossil Gen 6 smartwatches will be available in 42 mm and 44 m sizes. However, all of them will feature the same 1.28â OLED display with 416 x 416 px resolution. The display will be brighter than Gen 5 panels and will support Always On functionality.
Most cases will be water resistant up 50m (5 ATM). They will come with a selection of metal, leather and fabric wrist straps, with various styles to suit men and women.
The watches will have a 24 hour battery life with daily charges made less annoying by the fast charging support â 0-80% in 30 minutes. The extreme energy saving mode will be able to stretch the battery to several days.
In terms of sensors and health stats, they will feature the usual step counter, heart rate monitor with SpO2 reading (blood oxygen saturation) and GPS for accurate tracking of outdoor exercises.
Fossil will launch the Gen 6 watches on September 27 and they will be priced between â¬300 and â¬330.
