Exynos 2500 specs leak

Samsung's Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ feature the Korean company's own Exynos 2400 SoC in some markets, and these were just unveiled last week. And yet, we already have a leak about the upcoming Exynos 2500 chipset, which is due to be used in the Galaxy S25 family a year from now.

The CPU will allegedly keep the 10-core configuration of the Exynos 2400, but the 2500 will use ARM's upcoming CPU cores. It will be made on Samsung's second-generation 3nm process (3nm GAP/SF3). This is apparently better than TSMC's current 3nm process in area and efficiency.

The Exynos 2500's CPU is said to sport one Cortex-X5 core clocked at 3.2 GHz or more, three Cortex-A730 cores clocked at 2.3 GHz to 2.5 GHz, two additional Cortex-A730 cores, and four efficiency-focused Cortex-A520 cores.

That Cortex-X5 CPU core has so far been rumored to surpass Apple's latest custom CPU core in performance. So the Exynos 2500 might be a very interesting chip indeed, performance-wise. How it will do with efficiency remains to be seen. Still, there's plenty of time for more leaks to come and cover that.

When it comes to the GPU, the Exynos 2500 might sport AMD's RDNA-based Xclipse 950, a step up from the Xclipse 940 in the Exynos 2400 - and that one already defeats the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in raytracing. Since the Exynos 2400 seems to be pretty close to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in benchmarks, the 2500 with its improvements might create a situation where Exynos is at least on par with Snapdragon again, after many, many years.
