DJI Osmo Action is a 4K action camera with dual displays
DJI has announced its first action camera that directly takes on the GoPro Hero 7 Black. Called the Osmo Action, this $349 camera has several tricks up its sleeves, including two displays.
Unlike all the GoPro models so far that have a color display on the back and a black white display on the front, the Osmo Action has a 1.4-inch full color display on the front that lets you shoot vlogs or self portraits. On the back is a 2.25-inch touchscreen display.
The Osmo Action has a 1/2.3" 12MP CMOS sensor. It can shoot in 4K at up to 60 frames per second and 100Mbps bitrate. Or you can shoot in HDR at up to 30 frames per second. You can also do 240fps slow motion in either 1080p or 720p resolutions.
The Osmo Action also features DJI's new RockSteady electronic image stabilization. This works even at 4K60 resolution.
Apart from that, the camera has a waterproof body and can be mounted on standard GoPro mounts. It features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and can be controlled using DJI's mobile app. Optionally, you can also get accessories such as a camera frame kit, adhesive mounts, waterproof case, mic adapter and filters, including ND, polarizer and underwater filters.
The Osmo Action is now on sale on DJI website and will be available from authorized dealers starting May 22.
