Dell Streak steps into Froyoland, unlocked devices get there first

Android v2.2 Froyo has finally made it on Dell Streak, six months after its launch. The update comes as an OTA one and is already available for all unlocked Streaks. Those who are chained to a carrier will get the Froyo a bit later, some time in December.

It's definitely good news for the Dell Streak owners. The 5-inch tablet was running on the outdated Android 1.6 Donut since its launch in May. Luckily Dell is ready to upgrade all of its unlocked devices with Android 2.2 Froyo.

If you own a Dell Streak you can check manually for an update or wait for a notification. Backup your data, charge the battery, connect to a Wi-Fi and unleash the Froyo on your Streak. You can find a step-by-step guide here.

The carrier-locked Streaks will be updated in December.

The update comes with new Dell Stage user interface and all Froyo goodies - improved performance, Adobe Flash support, Live Wallpapers, Wi-Fi hotspot, native social apps, etc.

When you update your Streak to Froyo, you no longer will be able to sync with Dell PC Suite. Instead you'll need to install Dell Mobile Sync software and use it instead.
