Deals: Black Friday week sees the Xiaomi 14T and Pixel 9 series go on sale
There has been no shortage of sales events this year, but this is the granddaddy of them all – Black Friday. Which technically falls on the 29th, but it doesn’t hurt to start early.
The Xiaomi 14T and 14T Pro are both €150 off at the moment. Both use the same display and have basically the same design, but the Pro has the more powerful chipset, better camera and faster battery charging. Check out our Xiaomi 14T vs. 14T Pro post for an in-depth comparison.
The whole Pixel 9 family has a straight discount and an additional €100 off if you are a Prime Student subscriber. Without it, only the vanilla Google Pixel 9 is under €1,000.
The OnePlus Nord 4 has a stylish aluminum unibody and a large 6.74” 1,240 x 2,772px display, a 120Hz 10-bit panel (but it’s not an LTPO panel). The body is rated IP65, i.e. dust tight but not fully water resistant. The Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 is quite fast and can trade blows with Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 powered phones.
Like the Poco F6, for example. This one has a similar 6.67” 1,220 x 2,712px 120Hz display, also not an LTPO, but it does have 12-bit colors. The IP64 rating is lower and the 5,000mAh battery is smaller (the Nord has a 5,500mAh battery), but the Poco is cheaper.
For around the same price you can get the Realme 12 Pro+, which has something neither the Nord nor the Poco have – a 64MP 71mm telephoto lens. It’s paired with a 50MP main and an 8MP ultra wide camera. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is well below the 7+ Gen 3 in terms of performance, though.
If a good camera is what you’re after, have a look at the Redmi Note 13 Pro – it has a 200MP main. There’s no dedicated tele lens, but the high resolution sensor does great 2x zoom all by itself and okay 4x zoom. This phone is also powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.
Going back up the price ladder, the OnePlus 12R has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (the flagship chip from a couple of years ago) and an LTPO panel for the 6.78” 1,264 x 2,780px display. There’s no telephoto on this one either and only a 50MP main camera, but it does have a 5,500mAh battery (100W wired only charging).
Attention has shifted towards the ROG model, but the Asus Zenfone 11 Ultra is still around. It is based on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and has a 6.78” 144Hz LTPO display (1080p+ resolution). It’s a stealth gaming phone and it does have a telephoto camera – a 32MP 65mm module to go with the 50MP main and 13MP ultra wide. The battery has 5,500mAh capacity and does both 65W wired and 15W wireless charging.
The Fairphone 5 comes with a free iFixit screwdriver as a reminder that this phone is fully repairable by its owner. Both the original 8/256GB and the lower cost 6/128GB models are part of the Black Friday sales.
