Casio G-Squad Pro is the first G-Shock watch with Wear OS
It sure took some time but the first Casio G-Shock to run Wear OS is finally here. Say hello to the G-Squad Pro GSW-H1000. Bringing the iconic rugged design with up to date specs and a full smartwatch OS, the latest G-Shock watch is built to withstand the elements and track your sports activities too.
You get a round 1.2-inch dual-layer display with a monochrome always-on panel on top of the color LCD one. The build is nothing less than what you’d expect from a true G-Shock watch - shock-resistant and with 20 bar water resistance so that you can go about your extreme activities. The back of the casing is made from titanium while the buttons and portions of the top part of the casing are aluminum.
The G-Squad Pro also brings heart rate tracking as well as blood oxygen saturation, sleep and stress monitoring. You get on-board GPS, a compass and barometer as well as tracking for 15 activities and 24 indoor workout options.
The Wear OS interface includes several iconic G-Shock watch faces as well as Casio’s custom apps for sports-specific data like altitude measurement, tide graphs and road gradient. You’re also free to download any watch-compatible app from the Google Play store.
Battery life is rated at up to a month if you rely on the monochrome display and tracking sensors or about a day and a half if you’re more frequent with the color display.
The G-Squad Pro comes in red, dark blue and black colors. Retail is set at $699/£599 though Casio hasn’t provided any actual availability details as of now.
