Boox Palma 2 adds faster chipset, Android 13 and a fingerprint scanner
The original Boox Palma gained traction as a compact e-reader that also doubled as a smartphone and the new Palma 2 is here to fix some of its shortcomings. While it may look identical to its predecessor, Palma 2 features an upgraded eight-core CPU which should help it perform faster in day-to-day tasks.
The new model also boots Android 13 which may not be the latest version but itâs still a nice update coming from the Android 11 interface on Palma 1. The other new addition is the fingerprint scanner which is embedded in the power button.
The rest of the hardware is carried over form the Palma 1 with 6.13-inch E Ink Carta 1200 screen with Boox Super refresh technology. You also get dual speakers, a programmable smart button and the same 16MP rear facing camera. Palma 2 also features a microSD card slot and a 3,950 mAh battery.
Boox Palma 2 comes in black and white colors. Pricing starts at $280 for the 8/128GB trim and you can pre-order from Booxâs website. The device is available for pre-order from Boox. Boox Palma 1 is now discounted to $246.
Boox also announced a new version of its Note Air4 C color ePaper notebook and 13-inch Note Max.
Boox Note Air4 C
Note Air4 C brings a 10.3-inch Kaleido 3 E Ink screen with stylus support, and an eight-core chip thatâs 50% faster than the one in the outgoing Note Air3 C. It boots Android 13 and packs 6GB RAM, up from 4GB on the Air3 C. The storage is still 64GB and itâs expandable via the microSD card slot.
Note Air4 C is 10 grams lighter than its predecessor coming in at 420g. It brings a 3,700 mAh battery and retails for $500 and is on pre-order from Booxâs official website.
Boox Note Max
Note Max is a monochrome e-ink tablet with a 13.3-inch E Ink Carta 1300 display thatâs exactly A4-sized. It brings a 2.8GHz eight-core chipset and is just 4.6mm thick. Boox has not detailed pricing and availability details yet.
