Apple to bring major revamp across iOS, iPadOS and macOS
Apple is preparing a major overhaul to its iOS, iPadOS and macOS operating systems. Bloombergâs Mark Gurman suggests that Cupertino will bring one of the biggest software redesigns in its history with the upcoming releases of iOS 19, iPadOS 19 (codenamed Luck), and macOS 16 (codenamed Cheer). All three new operating systems are set to be showcased at Appleâs WWDC in June, with their official launch then coming in the Fall as usual.
The main takeaway is that Apple is going for a more consistent user experience with these updates as it aims to unify the look and feel across smartphones, tablets and PCs. As per the report, all three upcoming OSes will feature design cues from the Apple Vision Proâs visionOS.
Gurman suggests weâll see fundamental change across icons, menus, first-party apps, windows and the entire system UI on all three operating systems. As per the report, iOS 19 will be the most significant revamp for Cupertinoâs mobile OS since 2013âs iOS 7, while macOS 19 will be the biggest update for Macs since 2020âs Big Sur.
