Amazon Prime UK deals: here are the best smartphone offers (and a few smartwatches too)

2022-10-11

One Prime Day a year isn"t enough, so welcome to round #2. Amazon UK has slashed the prices of a great variety of products for a 48 hour shopping spree. Here are some of the best smartphone (and smartwatch) deals that we found.

Apple

Apple stopped selling iPhone 13 Pro models with the arrival of the 14 Pro replacements. And while the 2022 models are a solid upgrade, their prices might give you pause. You can grab an iPhone 13 Pro (256GB) for £980 (note that only some colors are part of the promo). For comparison, an iPhone 14 Pro (256GB) is £1,210.

The larger iPhone 13 Pro Max - the 1TB model - is also part of the proceedings and can be yours for £1,380 (or a bit more for certain colors). Unfortunately, smaller memory capacities are not part of the Prime offers, but this one is good for those who need to carry massive amounts of data but don"t or can"t use cloud storage.

Apple lost faith in the mini form factor, but we know not all of you have. It"s not the latest iteration, but the iPhone 12 mini (256GB) is available for £610. Unlike the Pros, the iPhone 13 mini is still available, though a 256GB unit costs £760. While you"re at it, you may as well pick up a silicone case (with MagSafe support) for the 12 mini for £30 or one for the 13 Pro Max, also £30.

If you"re in the market for a smartwatch, last year"s Apple Watch Series 7 (41mm, GPS) is available for £340, the 45mm model is £360. If you want cellular connectivity, the 41mm Watch Series 7 units start at £370.

Samsung

There are several 5G-connected Samsungs available on the cheap. The Galaxy A53 5G is down to £250. Some prefer the Galaxy A52s 5G because it is equipped with a Snapdragon 778G (instead of an Exynos 1280), but it costs extra - £300. The Galaxy M53 has a larger 6.7" display (vs. 6.5" on the A53) and a 108MP main camera (vs. 64MP), plus a Dimensity 900 chipset, you can pick one of those up for £340.

Even cheaper 5G options are available with the likes of the Galaxy A32 5G for £180 (note: this is the Enterprise Edition), Galaxy M23 5G for £200 and the Galaxy M33 for £220.

Foldables are unfortunately still rather pricey, but you can try out the Galaxy Z Flip3 (128GB) for £500, half of what you would pay for a Z Flip4 (if you need more storage, the Z Flip3 256GB is £550). The larger Galaxy Z Fold3 is on offer as well - £1,000 for a 256GB phone, £1,100 for a 512GB one.

Alternatively, you can have the more traditional form factor of the Galaxy S21 FE 5G for the same £500 as the Flip (it"s £600 for the 256GB model, which also has more RAM - 8GB vs. 6GB).

The Galaxy Watch4 Classic, the one with a rotating bezel, is down to £160 for a 42mm Bluetooth model and you can have the 4G version for £200. The larger 46mm version with 4G is £310. The vanilla Galaxy Watch4 (40mm, Bluetooth) is also available, but seeing how it is £150, we"d rather pay the extra £10 and have the rotating bezel.

You can accessorize your new phone with the £99 bundle of Galaxy Buds Live and a SmartTag+ (that"s the one with UWB).

Google

What do you think of the Pixel 7 series? If it doesn"t seem like much of an upgrade, here are some deals for the previous generation. They are pretty simple - get the phone and you get a pair of Pixel Buds A thrown in.

The Pixel 6 (128GB) is down to £475, while a Pixel 7 can be pre-ordered for £600. The Pixel 6 Pro packs a telephoto camera and a 120Hz display and it costs £725 (128GB). Finally, there is the cheap (but still Tensor-powered and 5G-connected) Pixel 6a for £350 (128GB).

Sony

The Sony Xperia 1 IV paired with the WH-100XM4 noise canceling over-ear headphones is up for grabs if you have £1,150 to spend. If you"re buying from Sony"s official store you"d spend £1,150 on just the phone and those are some of the best ANC headphones that money can buy. You can also pick up the older Xperia 1 III for £850, but we"re not sure it"s worth it since you don"t get headphones with this model.

If you want something cheaper, the Xperia 10 IV is down to £350, this mid-ranger has mostly clean Android, a 2x tele camera, a 3.5mm jack and microSD slot, plus a 5,000mAh battery in a body that"s only 67mm wide.

The Sony Xperia Pro-I is not a phone for the casual consumer, but it can capture some amazing photos with its image sensor borrowed from the RX100 cameras. If you have the need for one, you can grab it for £1,100.

OnePlus

It"s not the latest model, but the OnePlus 9 Pro is still a very capable phone and it starts at £500 (this is for an 8/128GB model). Its sibling, the OnePlus 9, is down to £370 (8/128GB), not a bad price for a Snapdragon 888 phone.

It certainly sounds better than spending £350 on a OnePlus Nord 2. If you want something cheap, the Nord CE 2 is probably a better pick at £200.

Xiaomi/Poco

No flagships unfortunately but plenty of cheap offerings. The Xiaomi 11T Pro (with Snapdragon 888, 8/256GB) costs £380 and is competing with the OnePlus 9. It has a 108MP main camera (vs. 48MP, but similar sensor sizes), though its ultra wide is not as impressive. The battery is, however, 5,000mAh/120W vs. 4,500mAh/65W.

Then there is the Redmi Note 11 for £150. You can pick the Redmi 10 2022 for £115 instead if you"re okay with a 90Hz LCD instead of a 90Hz AMOLED. These two are pretty similar camera-wise, but the Redmi charges its 5,000mAh battery faster (33W vs. 18W).

The Poco M4 Pro (not 5G) for £135 is similar to the Redmi, but with a Helio G96 instead of a Snapdragon 680.

The Amazon Prime Early Access Sale will run for two days starting today and includes much more than smartphones - you can find all deals here. You will need a Prime subscription to get the listed prices (Tolkien fans can watch The Rings of Power while picking out a phone).
