Affordable Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G features 108MP camera and AI smarts
This April, Tecno unveiled the Pova 6 Neo, a 4G phone with a large battery. Now, the company is launching a 5G model that may bear the same name, but has several notable differences.
The Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G is powered by the Dimensity 6300. It is paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage (UFS 2.2). You can double the RAM (up to 16GB) with the virtual RAM option. More importantly, the 5G model has a microSD slot for expanding the storage (the 4G model didnât have this option).
Another major upgrade â one that Tecno claims is a first for this price segment â is the 108MP camera. The company didnât reveal which sensor it used, but it says that it offers 3x in-sensor zoom.
Speaking of price segment, the 6/128GB model goes for â¹12,000 ($145/â¬130), while the 8/256GB one is only slightly more at â¹13,000 ($155/â¬140). These prices are with a discount of â¹1,000 and you can get an extra â¹1,000 off with an exchange deal. The 4G Neo isnât available in India, so we canât do a direct price comparison.
Anyway, the 4G and 5G models can't be compared directly since there are even more differences. The new 5G model has a smaller 6.67â IPS LCD (120Hz) with only HD+ resolution, compared to the 6.78â 120Hz IPS LCD with FHD+ resolution. The 4G model also has a 50MP camera.
The large 7,000mAh battery that defines the 4G model is gone, as is its 33W charging. Instead, the Pova 6 Neo 5G has a regular 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging. On the plus side, there is now some dust and water resistance with an IP54 rating.
This is fairly rare on cheap phones in India, but this Neo sports âall directionalâ NFC. The 4G model also has NFC. Both phones have stereo speakers too.
Youâd think that the 5G connectivity will be the main talking point about this phone, but no â this is âyour new AI BFFâ. It has all the AI features that weâve come to expect, from removing unwanted people and objects from photos to generating images from scratch.
The Tecno Pova 6 Neo 5G will launch in India on September 14 (Saturday) and will be available from Amazon and retail stores. You can pick between three colors: Azure Sky, Midnight Shadow and Aurora Cloud.
