Huawei P60 series and Mate X3 launch event scheduled for March 23
After several rumored specs reports and camera samples, Huawei finally revealed the launch date for its P60 series. The new flagships will launch on March 23 at 2:30 PM Beijing time and will also be joined by the Mate X3 foldable phone as well as several other new products.
Huawei’s official Weibo post does not divulge any further details though we can expect more teasers to appear in the days leading up to the event. Based on the latest rumors, the Huawei P60 series will consist of at least two devices – a vanilla P60 model and a P60 Pro.
Huawei P60 Pro should bring a pair of 50MP camera modules with a Sony IMX888 main sensor and an IMX858 module for the ultrawide. We’re also expecting a 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with 3.5x magnification. The vanilla P60 phone should launch with a 52MP main cam (IMX789) alongside a 50MP (IMX858) ultrawide module and a 16MP (IMX351) telephoto shooter. Both phones should launch with a Qualcomm 8 series chipset - presumably an LTE-only variant of the Snapdrgoan 8 Gen 2 SoC.
As for the Mate X3 – the foldable is expected to bring next-gen satellite communication capabilities. Based on the rumors, users will be able to send and receive text and voice messages via satellite.
