HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro get upgraded to ver. 2

2021-05-08

HTC have just announced the upgrades of their Touch Diamond and the Touch Pro, dubbed as HTC Touch Diamond2 and HTC Touch Pro2, respectively. Some of the upgrades are more than welcome, while others are disputable.

HTC Touch Pro2

The HTC Touch Pro 2 has a huge touchscreen measuring good 3.6 inches (compared to 2.8" in the original). Along with the bigger screen size comes the higher resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

The other interesting tidbit about the HTC Touch Pro2 is the new touch-sensitive zoom bar placed just below the display and the so called Straight Talk technology.

Straight Talk is nothing more than a solution that should provide quick and easy access to email and improved conference calls using the powerful speakerphone on the back.

The other changes that come with the Touch Pro2 are not that obvious and perhaps you should check them out here in direct comparison.

The HTC Touch Pro2 will hit the market by the early summer. Price tag is still unknown.

HTC Touch Diamond2

As for the HTC Touch Diamond2, the improvements over its predecessor are similar to those of the Touch Pro 2.

Again, the display is now larger (3.2 inches instead 2.8") and with a higher resolution (WVGA instead VGA). And underneath that display is again the already mentioned zoom bar. What is more important, though, is underneath the now flat battery cover. The HTC Touch Diamond2 packs a 1100 mAh battery promising twice the battery life you could squeeze out of the old one.

The Diamond2 comes with a 5 megapixel autofocus snapper and the built-in memory of 512 MB is expandable through the microSD card slot on board.

Both handsets run on Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS, but as Windows Mobile 6.5 was unveiled today, the devices will be upgradeable to ver. 6.5.

The HTC Touch Diamond2 is expected to become available across Europe and Asia by Q2 2009 and around the globe later on. It expected pricing is still a secret.
